Decorating the nursery has involved so many different stages and side projects that it feels like we’ve been doing it forever. It has finally come together this week and I’m excited to show it off.
We’ve not aimed for any particular theme in the room. It was always going to be pale green and I thought that white and grey would tie in well, leaving the room feeling light and fresh, whilst accommodating the multi colours of various baby items.
I wanted to combine modern essentials with vintage and handmade touches to give the room a unique and personal feel. Giraffes feature alongside old favourites including Peter Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh.

The details
My first baby purchase was this vintage classic Winnie the Pooh quilted wall hanging. I found it on Etsy whilst browsing for American quilts I can’t afford and fell in love with it. I’m really pleased with how well it fits in the space above the cot.

Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, who have taken up residence in the cot until Pea is big enough to use it, were knitted by my mum, who also crocheted the weather mobile that hangs on the back of the door.

I made and covered new cushions for my Ercol rocking chair. It’s set up beside the cot and next to the small chest of drawers so that I can keep all my feeding essentials to hand on the tray beside me.

A friend painted the giraffes that hang above the rocking chair and they make me smile every time I look at them. There’s something so relaxing about the picture. She designed my blog logo and you can view and purchase her work at JustBecauseInMoray.com.

I found these nursery cards in Levenshulme Antiques Village and couldn’t resist framing them for the wall. The colours and Victorian drawings are so different from the styles that you see in children’s books these days.

My concession to the inevitable storage issue created by children’s toys was this Kallax unit from Ikea. It fits perfectly under the window and the ability to add box crates has provided space for the toys that are already mounting up as well as Pea’s library.

The top of the unit also makes a great place to display a few items including the Peter Rabbit box set, which my mum found in a charity shop, and the gorgeous safari bookends that my mother in law gave me at my baby shower.

We picked up the small shelves at Stockport Vintage Village. After a coat of paint to match the drawers they provide the perfect place to display some of the smaller items I have collected including; the commemorative Peter Rabbit 50 pence, two cross stitched teddy bears I made when I was growing up, and Pea’s scan pictures.

Now everything’s ready I can’t wait to use the room, although I have to wonder how long it will stay organised once Pea arrives.

Becci I love it! You’ve done such a good job and I love the colour scheme. I so did not know about Stockport vintage market?! Thanks for sharing because I’m just buying a new house and want to give it a vintage/retro style. I will be popping to Stockport for idea and buys! Hope you’re doing well. Tor xx #CoolMumClub

I only discovered it last month after going to Foodie Friday, which is also worth a visit! I had no idea about the vintage shops within sight of the market hall either – definitely worth a look around. Also, have you tried Levenshulme Antiques Centre, Pear Mill in Stockport and The Vintage Home Show at Victoria Baths?

Ah, it’s got everything you need except a tiny baby to love it. I always had the nursery all perfect pre-baby as it made me feel so much more excited and ready. I love the giraffe painting and the weather mobile! Some really unique pieces in there. can’t wait to hear your news over the summer!
Thanks for linking to #coolmumclub week after week – hopefully see you again in the Autumn with some baby updates!

What a gorgeous nursery, I absolutely adore those curtain tie backs!

Thanks. They’re cute aren’t they. I thought they were a subtle baby friendly addition to otherwise pretty neutral curtains – and they suit the giraffes. I bought the curtains, complete with tie backs from Next!

What a delightful nursery you have created. Ikea are fantastic for storage. We have a radiator where you have your storage unit though.#FartGlitter

Thank you. Storage is about the only thing I use Ikea for, but they do it so well, and it’s so affordable.
